Intravenous therapy is done in those cases where the person cannot receive the medicines orally. So in that case the medicine is being given through the vein. An I.V set is used for intravenous therapy.
Whenever a patient needs some essential fluids that cannot be taken orally, in that case, infusion therapy is given to the patient. An infusion therapy helps the patient to get the essential medicines and fluid via a needle and an I.V Set,
First, the needle is pierced in a selected vein, and the area is properly cleaned. As soon as the needle is connected to the appropriate vein the IV set is connected to the catheter.
The I.V set consists of a spike that helps it to connect with the fluid or medicine administrator. The fluid comes down via line and enters the patient’s body via a needle.
It should be kept in mind that the rate of flow of the liquid should be closely monitored by the hospital and the nursing staff. They should take care of the medical situation. There are few instances where a high flow of liquid might bring down the body temperature and Increase the heartbeat.
The Hospital and the nursing staff should avoid such instances and should closely monitor whether the patient is comfortable or not.
It can turn out to be very dangerous for the patient if the rate of flow of the liquid is not closely monitored by the hospital and the nursing staff.
